The rise of the Qin state in the Warring States period during the reign of Duke Xiao of Qin.

On her wedding day, Ning Xiuxiu, the daughter of Tianqiang Temple Village's richest man, is kidnapped by bandits. Her father refuses to pay the ransom, marrying her sister to her childhood sweetheart instead. In defiance, Xiuxiu cuts ties with her family and marries farmer Feng Dajiao, learning the value of land and community. Inspired by revolutionary ideals, she empowers village women to challenge feudal beliefs and leads efforts against banditry and the Japanese invasion.

Set in 1947, we follow the relationship between three people - a shop owner, his wife and a young woman who is determined to cure her father's illness.

Qin Chuan and Xie Qiao grew up in the same compound. They have been bickering with each other for ages. Qin Chuan is simple and does not mince words but he always stands by Xie Qiao and will always be her most important friend. No matter where life leads them, they will come together.

At a Japanese restaurant nestled within the busy streets of Beijing, Li Dong convinces his older brother Li Chun to travel together to the Japanese city of Yanagawa to find and catch up with their childhood sweetheart Liu Chuan.
