SOKO Donau is an Austrian television series.

A family, blessed with richness and power, is desperately seeking for a liver for their father, who wants to hand down his wealth to the one who gets the organ.

„Alone against the mob? Solo against the jobcentre? Classic suicide mission.” That much Mr Berger knows, working at the jobcentre phone support line. But fortunately, Marie is not alone, after she loses her job aged 58. She has gathered a highly specialized troop of long-term unemployed people, and together they can achieve anything.

Three friends undermine the job-swapping in the company that exploits them and pull each other out of the swamp of capitalism (into which they will repeatedly fall).

When Ella, the rich daughter of a corrupt banker, escapes from her arranged wedding and hides in the trunk of a Bentley, she meets Richie, a small town crook who has just stolen the Bentley. Together they stage her disappearance as a kidnappingin order to get as much money as possible from her parents.

The death of Ottakring's last godfather and the encounter with a very clever young woman unintentionally turn the clever crook Sammy into the business-minded driving force of an Austrian parallel world in the midst of the global economic crisis.

The inner lives of six people are explored. Each has a connection to the Viennese subway station Schottentor.
