Azra is worlds apart from her conservative Muslim mother. When her father suddenly dies on a trip home to Pakistan, Azra finds herself on a Bollywood-inspired journey through memories, both real and imagined; from her mother’s youth in Karachi to her own coming- of-age in rural Canada.

Trapped in the web of ethnic strife in the brutal underbelly of Karachi, Gardaab is a tale of two lovers' journey, as they struggle to break away from the unending cycle of violence that haunts the metropolis.

A college student with father-estrangement issues and a passion for music

Mannat, Haya and Nayab are all close friends. Wajih, Yawer , Shayaan and Haya are siblings. Mannat is married to Shayaan. Her In-Laws are shown as quite wealthy. However, Nayab is poor. Her mother passed away and she lives with her father Ramzaan , greedy step-mother and her 2 step-sisters. The story starts when Nayab gets murdered after a rape attempt and physical violence on the night of her friend Haya's engagement.
