Frank Koops is a police officer in the small mountain town of St. Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains, which is usually quite tranquil. He is known in his area with his green Lada Niva and everything seems to be going well. But crime also penetrates into these hidden corners. Koops masters challenges in his very own, calm way and his criminalistic qualities are always underestimated by the criminals. His specific local knowledge is also an advantage. He is friends with the postman Heiner Kelzenberg and his young colleague Mette Vogt from the neighboring town of Braunlage. Both are important helpers in an emergency.

Jürgen Prochnow (Das Boot, Dune) stars as Konrad, an old man still mourning his wife's death, living alone in a large house with little but a tropical fish tank for company. Then he meets 12-year-old Thurba, a Yemeni refugee avoiding resettlement to Bulgaria, after she breaks into his basement in search of food. Her dream is to get to London to find her uncle, and Konrad has to decide whether to help her.

Crying children, changing diapers, baby food - everything around Jan seems to revolve around having children. Not only is his best friend Theo a new father, but his sister-in-law Marion's children also keep the successful engineer on his toes. So it's all the better that Jan's marriage to Hanna is a child-free zone. Until now - because Hanna's family plans are becoming more and more concrete... When she brings up her desire to have children one evening, a heated argument develops that ends in a compromise: To test whether the couple is even ready to take responsibility for a child, they first want to look after a dog for a few weeks. If that goes well, they can start thinking about having a baby. A short time later, bulldog Lucky moves in with them and causes a huge stir in the couple's lives...
