Jamel Comedy Club is a French comedy show on the television station Canal+, produced and presented by the French actor/comedian Jamel Debbouze. It aims to highlight talented young comedians, who each get roughly 5 minutes in on stage with no props allowed. Many of the comedians are French of Arab and/or African origin, like Debbouze himself who is of Moroccan origin.

From odd jobs to the hunt for viral fame, making a career in stand-up comedy isn't easy, but four friends risk everything to make the world laugh.

Lila, grows up in the high-rises of the Marolles in Brussels. Along with her sister and her friends, she dreams of becoming a dancer and revolutionising the world of hip-hop. While her friends stay in Brussels, Lila leaves everything - comfort, family - behind to go to Paris, where she is certain her persistence will pay off. Except that life in Paris quickly takes an unexpected turn. The woman who dreamed of being a choreographer ends up as a lap dancer in a rap video, and that’s only the beginning of her disillusionment. After a chance meeting with a drama teacher, she bears her heart and soul on stage and begins doing stand-up. This time, her unusual dedication leads her to find her calling. However, she still has to fight one final battle: convincing her father that she has made the right choice.

Hosted by Kyan Khojandi, in sixty minutes, sixty artists follow one another on stage. Which means they have sixty seconds, and not one more, to hold the spectators' attention and draw them into their world. The witticisms fuse, forming a veritable fireworks display of witticisms and funny situations, to the delight of viewers, but also of guest comedians.
