The world is full of miracles, especially during the shimmering heat of a seaside summer. While vacationing on the Baltic Sea coast, an unusually deep friendship blossoms between eleven-year-old Dole and Hermann, a man in his mid-forties. Standing on the threshold of adolescence, the girl rebels against her mother’s plans to move in with a new boyfriend, knowing full well that she has no desire to grow up. It all seems too complicated, requiring too many compromises. Hermann, a gentle family man who has never lost touch with his inner child, fires Dole’s imagination with his fantastical tales, while she brings color to his monotonous life. The two get along famously. A profound bond of kindred spirits develops between them, a love that endures beyond the holiday. Yet, back in their everyday lives, those around them are far from understanding. Without hesitation, they decide to run away together—back to the sea, the place where their fragile happiness truly belongs.

This anti-coming-of-age film follows Generation Y characters as they chase the desire for radical self-realisation.

When Maren decides to get in touch with him, her mother finally spills the beans: He now goes by the name of Sophia and lives as a woman – just what she needs! Irrespective of her vexation, Maren risks a meeting and finds in Sophia a person just as hormonal and puerile as herself – a person who would actually prefer to be her best friend, at best even her mother. Can Maren accept that this life makes her father happy? TRANSPAPA is a compassionate and funny story of gender role-breaking, tolerance and the search for identity.

Lindenstraße is a German television show on ARD's Das Erste, one of Germany's two publicly administered TV channels. The first episode was aired on 8 December 1985 and since then new episodes have been broadcast weekly. Its current timeslot on Das Erste is Sundays at 18:50. The events of the Sunday episode usually take place on the Thursday before the show, based on the TV station's original plan of airing the episodes Thursday night. Prior of the start of the show, the timeslot was switched to Sunday evening but the Thursday remained the day the events usually take place as the show shall feature the daily life routine of the protagonists on a working day. Exceptions are the so-called holiday episodes that take place on Sunday, such as for Christmas and Easter and also on important election days. Setting the pace for other soap operas in Germany, the first episodes were met with mostly bad reviews. However, Lindenstraße soon became one of the most successful shows on German TV.
