Every player in the NHL dreams of winning a championship and having the honor of their name engraved on hockey's most prestigious trophy. Here are the stories of those, legends and the lesser known, who achieved the ultimate goal in the sport.

The pond. This is where hockey was born-under the open sky-where the ice is gritty and so is the play. For generations, Northlanders have grown up on outdoor ice. But, there are new climate- controlled arenas in every town, and that's where the kids go to practice year-round now.

In early February 2025, the world’s top hockey nations, including Canada, Finland, Sweden and the U.S., came together to pit their best players against each other in the 4 Nations Face-Off. The tournament replaced the NHL’s annual All-Star game and offered a chance for players to wear their national colours and assert their hockey dominance. None more so than Canada and the U.S. For decades, each team has staked a claim as “world’s best,” but as the first puck dropped, things were more heated than normal.

For the second time in franchise history - the Pittsburgh Penguins are back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions! NHL Original Productions provides an in-depth all-access narrative of Pittsburgh's fifth Stanley Cup Championship. In 2005, 18-year-old rookie Sidney Crosby was the NHL's number-one draft pick. This scrapbook of his first two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins prove he's lived up to the honor. Cameras follow Crosby on and off the ice for his third year. He discusses his routines and strategy, but it's the footage of Crosby in action at the Winter Classic and Stanley Cup playoffs that reveals how he became the youngest captain in NHL history at age 20.

Endowed with outstanding cinematography, and in-depth interviews with competitors, this documentary underlines the gender parity being achieved at an Olympic level. Women compete in ski jumping for the first time at the Winter Games, and Canada is seen beating the United States at the last gasp in the women's ice hockey final. Disciplines given prominence here include speed skating, figure skating, aerial skiing, curling, and the biathlon. Training is analysed as much as the competitions themselves. A suite of accidents and mishaps, and the consequent tears of frustration, remind us that the Olympics is not just about winning.

"Come on down!" The Price Is Right features a wide variety of games and contests with the same basic challenge: Guess the prices of everyday (or not-quite-everyday) retail items.
