James Manos Jr. is an American screenwriter and television producer. He is best known as the creator of the Showtime drama series Dexter (2006–2013), which he adapted from Jeff Lindsay's novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter. Earlier in his career, Manos won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in 1999 for co-writing the seminal Sopranos episode "College" alongside David Chase. His other television writing and producing credits include The Shield, ER, and Southland.
