Rock Profile first appeared on the channel UK Play in 1999, before moving to BBC Two in 2000. The first series was broadcast in 1999, comprising 13 episodes, on digital channel UK Play. The series was then picked up by BBC Two, with a second series of 13 episodes following in 2000. Series one was later shown on BBC Two. In Christmas 2000, a special 45-minute episode of the series was broadcast, entitled Rock the Blind. The episode followed Gary Barlow and Ronan Keating as they recorded a charity single. Ted Robbins appeared as Pete Waterman, and Sara Cox as herself. TV10.0DocumentaryDriven was a motoring television programme launched by Channel 4 in 1998 as a rival to the successful and long-running BBC series Top Gear. The style was similar to its rival, but with additional features such as the "Driven 100", a road test of three cars in the same class, where each car would be given marks for qualities such as practicality, desirability and cost of ownership. The car with the highest total score would be the winner. The programme launched with the concept that the presenters should interact with each other rather than present items on their own, as was then the case on Top Gear. The first series also featured a "headquarters", a racing team truck, set on a former air force base at which cars were put through their paces. These concepts resurfaced in the reborn Top Gear soon after.

Three contestants would be set up by their friends and given 180 points each. Simon would read out a clue to a previous misdemeanour that that player had done and the player had to give the right confession. If that was the one he was referring to, all well and good. If not, however, they'd just embarrassed themselves. They also lost 20 points and were given another clue. This happened a maximum of one more time, and if they still hadn't got it they lost another 20 points and Simon revealed what they'd done. Then he'd move on to the next contestant and so on.
