Mariana Coelho

Adaptation of Mia Couto's novel "A River Called Time, A House Called Earth." When the gravedigger's shovel tried to dig into the ground to cover Dito Mariano's grave, it hit a surface as hard as steel. A storm broke out in the sky and a sense of awe swept over the family members present at the funeral. Whose fault was it that the earth would not open? Discord broke out among the women. Dulcineusa, the matriarch of the family, declared: "The earth will not open because there is a secret to be revealed."

In Canoa do Bagre, on the coast of São Paulo, Juarez and Gustavo are former youth friends who took very different paths: the first became a powerful businessman after stealing his late boss's money, while the second prospered on his own merit with a transport company. Juarez's dream is to destroy the fishing village to expand his resort, but Gustavo is the biggest opponent and leads the residents against it. Juarez's life changes when Clarita, the woman who abandoned him in the past and made him become a bitter man, returns to discover that he is rich, bringing their daughter, Marilena.
