Inspired by the real-life story of a bus hijacking in Northern Greece, HOSTAGE explores the sensitive issue of Greek-Albanian relations through a young Albanian who takes over an intercity bus. Upon hijacking the bus, he takes the seven passengers hostage and demands a ransom of half and million euro, and safe passage to his homeland of Albania. The main theme of the series is the way in which a person is led to murder while each story in the series combines elements of drama, social stories and thrillers. The duration of each episode is 45 minutes and is in the form of a psychograph. While the stories in the series are based on real events that have preoccupied public opinion, their dramatization has undergone some changes.
