The #9 investigation team has been disbanded and members have been scattered around. One year later, the Chief of the National Police Agency, Sojiro Kandagawa, orders the creation of a special investigation team to cover from the initial investigation until it is sent to the prosecutor's office. Sojiro appoints Sakutaro Munakata as the leader of the special investigation team. Former #9 investigation team members Naoki Asawa, Shiho Komiyama, Kengo Murase, Yasushi Aoyagi, Hideaki Yazawa and new member Ryo Shindo join the special investigation team.

From Season 11 to Season 13, Ukyo’s partner is a young detective Toru Kai. Toru is a son of Deputy Director-General of The National Police Agency. But he became a detective by his own effort. And starting with Season 14, Ukyo’s current partner is Wataru Kaburagi, an elite bureaucrat who came to the Metropolitan Police Department on temporary assignment.
