A corneville-i harangok

Persecuted Huguenots in Burgundy are dragged to the bloodbath. The lord of Corneville, the Huguenot Marquis of Markeville and his friend, Count Grusenet, are also facing a death sentence, so they must flee as well. He entrusts the goods of the marquis, the count's little daughter, to Father Gáspár. Twenty years have passed. Father Gáspár raised two orphaned girls by now, a girl entrusted to his care and a found child. Serpolette is one who dreams that one day it will turn out to be of noble descent. Serpolette is in love with Grenicheau, a skillful, cunning guy, but he prefers to be around the other girl, Germainet. Germainet’s foster father is destined for the judge, but the girl trusts that a prophecy will be fulfilled that she will marry someone who comes from the sea and saves her life, so she rejects the petitioner.
