The Big Sick

Pakistani immigrant and aspiring stand-up comedian Kumail meets a free-spirited psychologist Emily and the two begin dating. The pair break-up when Kumail reveals that he hasn’t told his parents about his relationship, which puts him in an awkward position when Emily falls seriously ill shortly thereafter. Kumail is forced to navigate Emily’s medical crisis with her parents, whom he’s never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.
