Non è mai troppo tardi

It's Never Too Late Alberto Manzi decided to become a teacher at the age of twenty, during the postwar reconstruction period. Without any connections, however, he was unable to secure a teaching position except at the Aristide Gabelli juvenile detention center in Rome. After teaching about a hundred students to read and write, he was transferred to a regular school, which immediately struck him as backward, unmotivated, and inadequate. Meanwhile, RAI, the Italian public broadcaster, began its first broadcasts and, in addition to entertaining, was also tasked with educating the vast number of adults who could barely write their own names. After auditioning for a television educational program, Alberto found himself teaching on TV, helping the public learn to read and write.
