Who was Denmark's first king? Historian Cecilie Nielsen searches for the answer. Why do we say it was Gorm and Harald? What do we really know about them? How did they gain their power? Is it possible to name an earlier King? In an attempt to find answers, Cecilie examines sites and archaeological finds, connected to the development of power in the Viking Age, including the Jelling monument, the ring castle Trelleborg, wodan coins from Ribe, the Frankish national yearbooks, a possible undiscovered center of power on Falster and looted tombs throughout Scandinavia.
