The handsome Juan and the unattractive Juliet are a bourgeois couple who reside in an anonymous and small capital of the Spanish provinces. The aesthetic difference guarantees Juan that his wife will never leave him, thereby overcoming his insecurities. His peaceful life is shattered when the body of the boyfriend of the beautiful Alicia, Juliet's sister, appears. All suspicions fall on Juan, of whom Julieta is thought to be his next victim in order to get Alicia's favors. This fatal outcome does not happen, but Juan does not turn out to be as innocent as he wants to believe. Everything gets complicated when his friend from Madrid, Carlos, with his lover Mari, and the subsequent appearance of the village priest, Don Leocadio, arrive to visit.
