Bakhita

A message of love, mercy, and kindness. The year is 1948, and Aurora Martin arrives at the Canossian convent where Bakhita has just died, and she recalls the incredible life and woman who cared for her as a girl. Born in a village in Sudan, she was kidnapped by traffickers and sold to Federico Martin, an Italian merchant. Back in Italy, Bakhita becomes the nanny of Aurora, who lost her mother at birth. Despite violent opposition from peasants and local residents, Bakhita embraces the Catholic faith thanks to Father Antonio. Displeased, Federico Martin does not accept this, as he considers her his property, and now goes after her to bring her back. In 2000, she was declared a saint by Pope John Paul II.
