Franco Campanella is a former postofficer worker, who has always been married to Josephine who was born in Germany. Franco is loving father of Luisa, a teacher, and Giovanni, a waiter. More than anything else, Franco is a gambler. Wanting to offer his daughter the most beautiful wedding possible, he bets everything he has. And loses.
