Defying Gravity

Mute Cassandra takes refuge in a cemetery where her mother is buried. She is watched over by Jorge, the cemetery caretaker. Shore, a handsome, brilliant young homeless man becomes fascinated by her and attempts to befriend her after almost hitting her in his VW bus. A sequence of events results in Cass getting lost. Jorge and Shore try to find Cassandra before her abusive step-father does. All paths lead to the site of a roadside diner and a feisty transvestite waitress named Lola.
