Before the break of dawn, a silent burglar breaks into the kiosk of hard-working Manolios and steals five thousand drachmas. As the news spreads like wildfire in the adjacent tenement building, alarming the tenants, the commander of the local police department suspects that the culprit may be one of the occupants. Before long, suspicion and disbelief get the best of them, and even though the police officer promises to let such behaviour slide this time, provided that the robber hands over the money, no one seems willing to cooperate. However, Manolios needs the money to pay the newspaper agency. Will things turn out well? —Nick Riganas
