Androklus und der Löwe

Rome at the time of the Christian persecution: Androclus, a poor tailor, frees a lion in the forest from terrible pain caused by a thorn in its paw. The two meet again by chance when the devout Christian - meanwhile in captivity - is to be thrown into the arena for wild animals to be eaten. The lion spares him full of gratitude, but the real danger for Androclus threatens from another direction.
