It is the 1980s and the people living in the row belong to the new white-collar group that has emerged over a couple of prosperous decades. They are materially secure. The facades are well-maintained. The children are healthy, clean and well-behaved, a symbol of the good life. Nine people live in the five houses. They know each other well and they socialize a lot. But they soon realize how fragile their existence really is and that behind the facades it is not always so well-maintained and happy, life in the row of terraced houses will never be the same again for Elisabet, Torsten, Henrik, Kristina, Hellen, Börje and all the other neighbors.
