The chauffeur is just one of the many people in town who cheat on their spouses, imagining themselves quite smart and reserved, even when, unbeknownst to them, their spouses cheat on them in turn! When one of the many women with whom the chauffeur has a child dies tragically, he attempts to integrate her daughter into one of her other families, calling her her goddaughter. But when her son falls in love with her, the numerous sexual escapades around town threaten to get worse.
