This is the story of southerner Gunvald Tomstad and his dramatic experiences when he during the occupation had to take on a burden that no one could bear without being marked for life, if they were allowed to survive at all. No specialists had taught the young Gunvald to master the greatest game. He was an amateur in the world's most dangerous profession, but perhaps in the world's war history one has to look long to find a man who for months and years carried out a successful double game under such boundlessly difficult and dangerous circumstances.
