Lovrinci, Eastern Croatia, 1991. Kuzma Glavan, a middle-aged carpenter struggling to provide for his sickly mother, starts a relationship with the much younger Ana Šokčević, a teacher at the village school. The parents of both parties object to this relationship, however, they persist and soon their whirlwind romance results in marriage. However, their seemingly idyllic family life is thwarted when the ethnic conflicts between Croats and Serbs in the area start growing violent.

The film is a high-concept project with five stories exploring the themes of motherhood and pregnancy, directed by women filmmakers from five former Yugoslav republics. “Croatian Story” follows an anguished painter who must decide whether or not to keep one of her unborn twins, diagnosed with Down syndrome. “Serbian Story” finds an expectant mother in the same emergency room with a charming killer. “Bosnia-Herzegovina Story” centers on a financially strapped Sarajevo family whose son?s lover is pregnant. “Macedonian Story” unfolds in a clinic where a drug addict struggles to keep her baby, and “Slovenian Story” ends the omnibus on a humorous note with a nun who finds her own way to immaculate conception.

This is a film about ordinary civilians, who on June 26, 1991, the day when war broke out in former Yugoslavia, find themselves in Slovenia. The main character of the story is an 11-year-old boy, Felix, who is trapped together with his classmates and teacher Jasna in an unmoving column of vehicles on a high mountain road, because of army barricades. The heroes of the story are involuntarily caught between the two enemy military groups. On this day in June, many others find themselves on this road together with the pupils on their school bus - people from various European countries who are traveling south: Frenchmen, Italians, Hungarians, Germans, and, of course, Slovenians; a blend of different professions, nationalities and religions. All of them are individuals who, on a warm summer day, suddenly find themselves in the midst of war.

The second story (Bottoms Up) follows a young man named Tom, who decides to spend a lazy summer afternoon by visiting his favorite neighborhood bar, but, the more time passes by, the worse his day there becomes.

After a schizophrenic man named Bobo kills two men in self-defence, his lawyer instructs him to turn himself over to the police, who, in turn, place him in a psych ward. Not keen on this development, Bobo escapes and, along with his girlfriend, goes on a crime spree that leaves bodies in its wake.

This film follows father Ahmed and son Tarik Karaga during WWII and the Siege of Sarajevo.

When two enemy sides exchange the captives in the middle of a minefield, a nameless man without identity and memory, subsequently named Jakov, leaves the column unnoticed and wanders around, wishing to minimize other people's sufferings. On his dangerous journey, he meets Lucija, a female soldier who runs an orphanage, a commander who got back from the Foreign Legion and runs a defense line from a discotechque, flies an old biplane into battle and meets a Serbian general who keeps Croatian POWs in an old factory.

Kralj, an energetic businessman, unexpectedly gets into trouble: at the same moment both his wife and his mistress start seeing through his carefully constructed lies. It is one of those days when everything goes wrong. This is a story in which people don’t meet or talk, but try to solve their accumulated problems via text messages.
