Writer/director Christopher R. In a series of linked, short tales-of-horror, an unmanned spacecraft returning from the asteroid Vesta breaks up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere and scatters sample containers across Phantom Lake County! Not-so-unexpectedly, contact with the mysterious, otherworldly contents of these canisters creates a whole host of terrifying creatures—like mushroom monsters, killer garden gnomes, and more!

Along with the sheriff and small-town farmer Stan Johnson (the children's father), the rescue party quickly comes to the realization that if the caves don't get them, whatever unseen terror lurking in the shadows just might!

Phantom Lake County is known for its share of strange occurances, from monster attacks to alien invasions. However, things will never be the same when, after experiencing inexplicable earthquakes emanating from a local system of caves, the area is overrun by grossly mutated creatures of unusual size, a phenomenon that may point to the return of a long-since-forgotten menace!
