​In 1947 Prague, Holocaust survivor Dita lives in a hostel for orphans, acting as a protective mentor to a younger girl while failing to fix her own shattered life. Unable to form lasting bonds or find a place in a society that has moved on, she drifts through emotional isolation.

In the 1600s, an overzealous clergy hauls innocent women in front of tribunals, forces them to confess to imaginary witchery, and engages in brutal torture and persecution of their subjects.

The hero, rushing from one misfortune to another, is former accountant Řehoř Maršíček, who after a heart attack, out of fear of death, decides to live a calm, moderate life and follow the principles of a healthy lifestyle. Not to smoke, not to drink, to exercise and eat healthily. He takes up the position of an auditor of patients and hopes that he will have peace in his new job. Instead, he experiences one nervous breakdown after another. He gradually makes one good resolution after another. Řehoř falls into unhealthy food, alcohol and women. In addition, he gradually loses most of his life's certainties, including a roof over his head. The result is a second heart attack, after which the hero promises himself again that he will fix everything and live a healthy life.

Prague, during World War II. Hana Kaufmann, a Jewish ophthalmologist, marries Dr. Antonín Bureš, a Christian man. When her family is sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, their romance turns into a struggle for survival.

A crime story set in the second half of the 19th century. Krasl, a Prague schoolteacher, is searching for a statue of the Golden Buddha, which is supposed to contain compromising materials on the factory owner Riessig.

Leopold Kohák married a rich widow a long time ago and now has nothing to do compared to his energetic wife. A wandering tramp suggest Leopold should bathe in the magical waters of the Sázava, and slowly his youth returns to him.

The moment she comes home, she becomes a passive servant for the entire family, a good daughter and aunt. By the age of thirty-six, she has not managed to find her own happiness. Some time ago, her mother ruined Marie's wedding to architect Honza, who therefore preferred to leave the city. But Marie is determined to try to live her own life again and not let others drag her down. However, she only finds support in her father, who once betrayed his own young dreams for the good of the family. Will she find enough strength in herself to do it?

The already old King Charles IV. is fully devoted to politics and reigning and does not have as much time for his wife Anna Svídnická (third in line) as the young and in love monarch would like. Anna therefore weaves a small intrigue to incite the king to jealousy. The second picture from the life of the aging Charles IV. concerns his last wife Elizabeth. On the contrary, she does not desire the king's tenderness at all and prefers to devote herself to the problems of the monarchy. But this time it is the king who craves marital joys, and therefore tries to arouse jealousy in the queen...

Prague citizens request help against the army of Zikmund. The Hussite army with Jan Žižka in the lead make their way towards Prague.
