Abdelkrim Bahloul, born on 25 October 1950 in Saida, is a Franco-Algerian film director, screenwriter and actor. Abdelkrim Bahloul studied at the National Conservatoire of Dramatic Art in Algiers from 1968 to 1971, then at the National Conservatoire of Dramatic Art in Paris in 1976–77. In 1973, he obtained a Master’s degree in modern literature from the Sorbonne-Nouvelle-Paris-III University. He studied film at IDHEC (1972–1975). He worked as a camera operator at Antenne 2 and TF1 from 1976 to 1980, then as an assistant director at TF1 from 1980 to 1983. His films often focus on the colonisation and liberation of Algeria, as well as the experiences of Algerian immigrants in France.
