Marie Theres is a perfectly assimilated German in Vienna. She is a good wife to her husband Alexander, an understanding mother to her teenage daughter and a successful and respected doctor, who cares deeply about her patients. One day her perfect life falls apart: her husband leaves, her daughter rebels, she makes mistakes at the hospital and her friends abandon her. Then she meets Fa, a self-confident Iranian woman. The two fall in love with each other and Marie Theres starts to learn to put her own needs and wants first.

For a long time, Halfried Seelig forced herself not to make use of her special gift for healing. When she does help a sick man one day, the news spreads quickly. Meanwhile, there is a crisis in the marriage of Halfried's daughter Marion. On her wedding day, Marion leaves her husband, fetches her daughter Laura from boarding school and moves with her to her parents in Tyrol. There she wants to take over her father's surgery after his retirement and finally work as a doctor again. At first she is not accepted by the population, Laura also does not find her way in the new environment, Marion in turn resolutely rejects her mother's methods. Christl and Hansi Sandgruber return from their vacation in Australia. A lot of work awaits them, as the wildlife park's 30th anniversary is coming up. Hansi's arch-enemy Viktoria Perterer is going through less rosy times, having gone bankrupt overnight after reckless stock market speculation. Unexpectedly, a rumor surfaces that old Sandgruber may be responsible for the unexplained death of Viktoria's beloved father, who died in a mountain accident. Hansi is outraged by this suspicion of his father, but there seems to be evidence to support it.
