A poor family struggles to survive through petty theft, but the father decides to abandon crime after an incident that nearly lands him in prison. He devises a different plan: each family member gets a job working for a wealthy family, concealing their familial ties. They constantly confront the stark contrast between their own world and that of their employers.

The plot sheds light on women's issues through the suffering of several women living on an island, where they are exposed to several problems and crises due to some men's lack of understanding of their rights.

The story unfolds in Alexandria, where Haj Ali Eskandarany is revered as the city's leader for his benevolence towards the humble and needy, and his care for everyone.
