The BBC's answer to Dynasty, Howards' Way was launched in 1985 with an enormous 1 million pound budget. The main characters in the show were 'best boat designer in the world' Tom Howard, his boutique running wife Jan Howard, 'I'll have a drink' Jack Rolfe and a nasty man called Ken Masters. It starred Maurice Colbourne.

In the early 1800s, Mary Yellan's life is changed after her father is murdered by shipwreckers. It's there that she discovers her slightly mad Uncle Joss is the wreckers' ringleader and that Jamaica Inn is their headquarters. Mary is determined to bring Joss and his gang to justice and calls upon Joss' younger brother Jem to help.

Westway is a British television series made by HTV for ITV in 1976. The series dealt with the lives of three families living together in a commune in Bristol, and explored issues of self-sufficiency also addressed by BBC series of the period such as The Good Life and Survivors.

Jazz musician Bernie Weston find himself falsely accused of murder in Bristol. With the aid of a local reporter he sets out to clear his name and find the real killer.
