Les Perses (The Persians) is a French TV movie adaptation of Aeschylus' oldest known tragedy, Πέρσαι (Persai). It was originally broadcasted in October 31, 1961. The play deals with the aftermath of the Persian defeat in the battle of Salamis (480 BC), which makes it the only Greek tragedy that deals with a real historical event.

Le Grand Échiquier is a French variety television program created and presented by Jacques Chancel. It aired at 8:30 pm on the first channel of the ORTF from January 12, 1972 to July 12, 1972, then on the second color channel of the ORTF from September 1972 to December 1974, and finally on Antenne 2 from January 1975 to December 21, 1989. The program returned to France 2 on December 20, 2018 and is hosted by Anne-Sophie Lapix.

Schulmeister, l’espion de l’empereur (Schulmeister, the Emperor's Spy) is a French historical adventure television series consisting of 13 episodes (1971–1974), inspired by the real life of Charles Louis Schulmeister, a famous spy in the service of Napoleon I. La femme en blanc (1970) is a 13-episode French television series directed by Pierre Gautherin. It is an adaptation of the 1860 mystery novel The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. The series aired beginning June 5, 1970, on the second channel of the ORTF.

This historic mini-series is set just after the execution of Louis XVI and follows the actions of a group of loyal royalists, led by the Chevalier de Maison-Rouge. His goal is to free Queen Marie-Antoinette and the young King Louis XVII, but he runs into the brutal jailer Simon who makes sure to thwart any attempt to escape. A secondary plot line deals with the feelings of Lindet, the lieutenant of the national guard, towards Geneviève, the young protege of the royalist Morand, which for the sans-culottes is a crime in itself.
