Best friends Mimmi and Rönkkö support each other unconditionally. They want to live adventurous lives, loaded with experiences and passion. Maja and Janne move to the barren and remote island of Stormskerry, where survival is a daily struggle. Growing up in a world of old values, Maja becomes aware of a new era: a woman can be an equal partner instead of a mere bystander. The couple have children, and life is good until trouble sets in: war arrives on the island, Janne is forced to flee from the English troops, and Maja and the children are imprisoned. The family also faces many financial difficulties and death. Years pass, but Maja remains strong and stays in Stormskerry despite all the hardships and difficulties.

Eden is a coming-of-age film about a Protestant Confirmation camp on a summer’s week, set in the archipelago of Helsinki. Aliisa is the intellectually confident non-believer, Jenna is the queen bee and Panu is the scared bird. The experience of these teenagers is affected by Tiina, a young and eager priest.

Oona (20-something) runs a small coffee shop in the heart of hipsteresque Kallio district in Helsinki. Oona’s is not really the classic entrepreneur type: she’s often late to work and throws out customers she dislikes. She’s also constantly in a state of existential crisis over what she should become and whether she’s a somebody or just a nobody. Oona’s best friend is Arttu, a 25 y.o. gay artist-dj-creator-whatever. Together they hate, love, party and cry and try to become adults.

What does the teenage daughter and the divorced mom have in common? Surprisingly lot. Both are looking for true love and themselves. Both have to face the insecurities of modern women and the endless demands we have for ourselves.
