A pregnant and very poor woman has no place to give birth, and turns to a society lady for help.

An unlikely friendship develops when respectable Doña Nena spends her days looking out her window across the street to the sex workers who spend their nights there. One night, she helps helps Alicia one of the girls, escape a police raid and spend several nights painting her portrait.

Clotilde dies, and her god-daughter has promised to carry out a final wish for her. Two gangs of thieves and the cops interfere with her fulfilling the promise.

The film stars Felix Alvarez as Jesus Pelado Rasquachi, a young Mexican man who travels to the United States in search of work, suffering various unfortunate and comical events along the way.

The story follows Rina, a young hunchback who sells flowers to support her father and siblings after being abandoned by her mother. One day, while selling her flowers, she is beckoned from a window by Leopoldo—a wealthy, elderly, bitter, and invalid man—who manipulates her into marrying him because he refuses to leave his inheritance to his sister-in-law, Rafaela. Rina agrees to the marriage due to financial hardship. Shortly thereafter, Leopoldo dies, and Rina inherits a vast fortune. She undergoes surgery to correct her hunchback and transforms into a beautiful woman. Unwilling to accept the loss of the inheritance, Rafaela devises a scheme with the help of her son, Carlos Augusto, who has recently been widowed.
