The film is a slapstick action comedy about company employees, known as "underground employees," who secretly handle problems that cannot be solved in public. The story unfolds when the group receives a mission to demolish a shuttered shopping district in order to build a commercial complex. Also appearing in the film are underground employees of rival companies with the same mission, a large landowner who is the target of both companies, a passionate man trying to revive a shopping district that is on the verge of collapse, and a man with some kind of secret.

Because of her last name "Kumada" (bear + rice paddy) and her appearance, Misa's high school classmates call her "Pooh" disparagingly. She obviously has no friends and can only let down her guard around her pet parrot and the goldfish in the science room at school. But, then she finds herself quickly becoming best friends with Izumi who is a cute and popular classmates. Although somewhat puzzled by Izumi's interest in her, Misa is excited about having a friend for the first time ever. But, Izumi's initial angelic demeanor gradually transforms into a demonic one.

It is August 12th. After the remote control to his boarding house's only air conditioning unit is inadvertently destroyed by spilled cola, "I" devises a plan to return to yesterday in a time machine to recover the remote before it breaks. However, his prankster friend Ozu cannot resist playing with past events, even if it means bringing the universe to the brink of destruction. Now "I" finds himself racing through time to avoid disaster.

Thirty-year-old Koume Shingyouji leaves her job at a major building firm to join family-run Marufuku Builders. Tokiwa Megu is a modern-era woman who excels at work but cannot succeed where romance is concerned. By chance, she meets Iura Kakeru, a member of the time patrol team who comes from the future and together they receive a special mission where they are tasked to catch illegal time travelers. Although the two were former lovers, Megu’s memory of their time together has been erased in accordance with the time traveling governing rules. In order to make her relationship come to fruition this time, Megu spends time struggling to find the love of her life.
