Wallace and others take care of a lost little girl named Peggy, but he stubbornly tells her that God does not exist. James Dale, an assistant who secretly admires Truth and tries to poison Wallace, accidentally kills Peggy instead. Following her death, Truth returns to Wallace in spirit form to prove to him that God and an afterlife are real.

Laddie calls upon the Cape Breton Highlanders, camped nearby, for assistance and they go to the camp and break up the strike, which clears the way for a happy future for Mary and Laddie.
