Sekhar Kammula

Sekhar Kammula (born February 4, 1972) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who works in Telugu cinema. An alumnus of Howard University with a Master of Fine Arts in film directing, he made his feature directorial debut with the independent bilingual film *Dollar Dreams* (2000), which earned him the National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. He followed this by writing, directing, and producing the romantic drama *Anand* (2004) and the drama *Godavari* (2006), winning the Nandi Award for Best Director for both projects. In 2007, Kammula wrote, produced, and directed the coming-of-age drama *Happy Days*, which received the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu and the Nandi Award for Best Story. He subsequently directed the political drama *Leader* (2010), the coming-of-age drama *Life Is Beautiful* (2012), and the mystery thriller *Anaamika* (2014). He returned to romance with the romantic comedy-drama *Fidaa* (2017) and the romantic musical drama *Love Story* (2021). In 2025, he wrote and directed the multilingual crime drama *Kuberaa*.
