Takamachi Nanoha is a normal third-grader who feels a little useless and out-of-place with no purpose. The planet Eltria, having suffered severe desertification in the past, has all but been abandoned. Against her older sister's wishes, Kyrie Florian travels to Earth alongside her best friend, the AI Iris, in search of the key to their planet's regeneration. However, the only way to find it lies within the Tome of the Night Sky, leading them into conflict with Nanoha and her friends.

When the Ministry of Education goes back on its promise to keep Ooarai Girls Academy open, the task of saving the five-mile-long Academy Ship from the wreckers falls to Miho and her barely-seasoned tankery team. However, things go off track almost immediately. Immediately following the events of "Ikki tousen: Xtreme Xecutor", the kids from Nanyo Academy head to Kyoto for a school trip. Hopefully the city of Kyoto will be left standing!
