Ishikawa Ango is a very capable detective that lives only for his job. One day, while investigating a crime scene, he gets shot in the head by the criminal that was still lurking about. Ango gets thrown over that line that divides life and death but, though he dies, doctor's are able to reanimate him and he pulls through. Reiko Kenmochi (Haruka Ayase) works as a successful lawyer at a big law firm. She is ambitious and she is also honest about her desire to make a lot of money. One day, due to a bonus cut issue, Reiko Kenmochi becomes upset and takes a leave from her job. During her break, she spends time sending emails to people she knows, including her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa. She then receives an email from a mysterious person, Shinoda. That email states that her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa died. She is also surprised to learn that his will states that his entire fortune will be handed over to the person who killed him. Reiko Kenmochi devises a plan to split her ex-boyfriend's fortune with Shinoda, turning Shinoda into Eiji Morikawa’s killer.

Little Towa lives with his parents Satsuki and Yuichi in a coastal town on Nagashima. Yuichi is a fisherman, Satsuki runs a restaurant. What Towa doesn’t know is that he is adopted. As a baby, he was abandoned in an internet café, completely emaciated. While his new parents are secretly fighting for custody of him and want to protect him from his past, the family’s happiness begins to falter. Satsuki and Yuichi aren’t the only ones who are worried about Towa’s future.
