A patient dies beneath Dr. Robert Stenzel's hands. His wife, the virologist Simone, realizes too late that the deceased was carrying a contagious virus. Robert has long since been infected too. For Simone, a merciless race against time begins...

A young woman has inherited her late mother's night kiosk. She tries to overcome her grief and the planned break-up with her boyfriend by having friends and customers tell her stories about happiness, which she records on a video camera. As the tapes pile up, she realizes that the other happiness seekers are also fleeing fate and their loneliness.

A team of inspectors investigates murders in and around the small Upper Bavarian town of Rosenheim, and they still have plenty of time to see idyllic landscapes and luxurious pre-alpine villas and enjoy sumptuous Bavarian fare with beer.
