Different people and five different families are acting out various scenarios, scripts and what-ifs. First there is the four Suzuki family members, who are not, sitting around a table in isolation. Then there is the unveiling of a will and what happens when it is read out, there are the sisters who are at it against each other, then there is the funeral that does not go according to plan and more.

Sister Game is a brother-sister romantic comedy that follows the daily life of Gorō Hōzuki, a high school boy with an older sister named Haru who is unrelated by blood. Gorō is mortified when the self-centered and lustful Haru plays pranks on him.

Upon marriage a wife and husband were virgins. They steadily improve their sexual skills day after day. After six months of marriage they are having sex every night. The wife, however, feels things are becoming stale given her husband's lack of new maneuvers in bed. One day the sister-in-law comes to meet her brother's wife and she is having relationship problems with her boyfriend. The sister-in-law insists that the man will get bored if a woman is always available for sex prompting the wife to restrain herself for three weeks.

The movie's title is a play on the popular Always - Sunset on Third Street films and also deals with circumstances 1950's Tokyo, but focuses on the homosexual district of Shinjuku ni-chome.

"Yukemuri Sniper" ("The Sniper in the Vapor") stars Kenichi Endo as an assassin who has decided to leave the business and try to go straight. Gen figures the best way to escape his violent past is to retire somewhere that is remote and quiet, so he takes a job as a lowly attendant at a mountain hot-springs resort called Tsubaki-ya. He strikes up a friendship with one of his colleagues, a housekeeper named Suzuyo (Shoko Ikezu). One day, Suzuyo's ex-husband, Tagawa (Kohei Mashiba), comes to the inn and roughs her up. Gen learns that Tagawa is a gangster and that he shows up at the inn every so often to take the money that Suzuyo has earned. Gen feels sorry for Suzuyo and calls Tagawa to try and reason with him.
