Before being extradited to Africa to stand trial, a notorious Belgian criminal is entrusted to the Marseilles police department for less than 24 hours. But the wily crook convinces bumbling policeman Emilien he's a lowly Belgian embassy employee who got railroaded by the brilliant master criminal.

Paris, France, December 1897. The young playwright Edmond Rostand feels like a failure. Inspiration has abandoned him. Married and father of two children, desperate and penniless, he persuades the great actor Constant Coquelin to perform the main role in his new play. "Chez Maupassant" is a French anthology television series based on short stories by Guy de Maupassant. Created by Gérard Jourd'hui and Gaëlle Girre, it ran on France 2 in three seasons in 2007, 2008 and 2011. It consists of a total of 24 episodes of which half are 60 minutes long and half are 30 minutes.
