Convicted corporate criminal Howard engineers a prison break as he and a number of fellow inmates are being transferred to a new facility. The escapees storm a shopping mall and take a group of shoppers hostage (after killing many more of them) before making their demands. Only Rudy, a former mercenary and brother of one of the fugitives, can take out the criminals before more of the hostages die.

A detective is assigned to transporting a homeless man to a psyche ward after he was caught tampering with a radio tower to block alien communication to the moon. The man claims he must kill a big-time media mogul whom he believes is an alien leading the extermination of the human race. The detective must decide to either stop this man's insane mission, or to believe him in order to save the planet from the coming invasion.

Based on the diaries of the naval adiminister Samuel Pepys, it portrays life at the court of Charles II during the 1660s.
