Set in Czechoslovakia, the drama follows the lives of its characters against the backdrop of real historical events that shape their personal stories. To evoke period atmosphere, the series intersperses authentic clips from vintage Czechoslovak film newsreels, using their original commentaries or newly recorded historical voice-overs by Vladimír Fišer. A narrator, initially voiced by Vojtěch Kotek and later by Matěj Hádek, provides continuity and reflection, guiding viewers through changing times. Under the guidance of screenwriter Rudolf Merkner, each episode’s script weaves family and individual dramas into key moments of Czech and Slovak history: political shifts, cultural trends, and social transformations from the 1960s onward.

Flexible, powerful, and naive. The fates of three men intersect at the launch of Czechoslovak television broadcasting. Ambitious actor František Filipovský has no idea that his casual improvisation on the theme of "the miser" will go down in history. For Minister of Information Václav Kopecký, it is a moment of great nervousness: will he convince his comrades that television broadcasting is the golden goose of communist propaganda? A young television technician is fascinated by the "remote transmission of images and sound" – he has a job he never dreamed of. But can a person fulfill their dreams in communist Czechoslovakia in the 1950s without getting involved with the regime?

Radio correspondent Karel Beran returns briefly to Prague from the Middle East due to an anonymous tip, but a revolution suddenly breaks out in Kambur just then. To fulfill his duty, he fabricates live reports from his Vinohrady apartment, simulating the uprising’s sounds with kitchen appliances. When Czech Radio decides to send a support team, he faces an impossible choice: admit the deception or stage his own death.

Adolescence is always a difficult time; it is doubly so for Gábina. For one thing, she is growing up in the normalization years of the 1970s, and then she also has to face the reality that her father is a well-known actor disavowed by the regime. Although he abandoned the family years before, his existence casts an ominous shadow over the lives of not only Gábina, but also her older sister and mother, who are trying to find a civilized way through the social mire of the times.

A comedy about erotically addicted men is therapy for everyone, especially those who think they don't need therapy. At a session for erotically addicted men, Eda, the owner of a bicycle repair shop, meets Cyril, a history and physical education teacher; GIGI, an aging rocker; Přemek, a retired screenwriter; and Martin, a young IT specialist. The therapy is led by Linda, a recent graduate and single woman, for whom meeting this group of diverse male characters becomes a fateful step not only in her professional career.

Carefree Jindřiška (23) discovers that her father owes a lot of money when debt collectors arrive to confiscate their house. In a single day, Jindřiška's world falls apart, forcing her to choose between helping her father or saving herself before it's too late.
