Goede tijden, slechte tijden, also known as GTST, is the longest-running Dutch soap opera, revolving around the lives of the families Alberts, Sanders, De Jong, Van Houten and Bouwhuis. It all takes place in the fictional town of Meerdijk.

Ten Dutch celebrities participate in each broadcast. Two non-ordinary questions are asked of the Dutch celebrities per episode, such as "Who would have the easiest time going forty days without sex?", "Who used to be chosen last in gymnastics?" and "Who is your best friend?". The broadcasts claim that for each question a panel of 100 people compiled in advance a top 10 in which the famous candidates were "ranked."

This is the life of Kees Heistee. The festive arrival of Sinterklaas is overshadowed by a huge problem: due to a large shortage of staff, the tradition threatens to disappear once and for all. Sinterklaas is desperate: where can he find new, good staff on such short notice? The youngest member of staff suggests they organize an audition in which everybody can show off their skills in order to become a member of staff; a so-called 'Piet'. A bunch of graduates go out sailing to visit a secret Full Moon Party. Hans Nijboer also tries to get his brother Ties back home to work in the familie business. Ties has other plans, he wants to become a singer.
