It was the 21st annual Survivor Series and starred wrestlers from the Raw, SmackDown!, and ECW brands. The main event featured SmackDown wrestlers in a Hell in a Cell match where World Heavyweight Champion Batista defended against challenger The Undertaker. In Raw's main match, Randy Orton fought Shawn Michaels in a singles match, while in ECW's prime match, ECW Champion CM Punk defended his title against John Morrison and The Miz in a Triple Threat match. Two matches were on the undercard. The first was a singles match featuring The Great Khali vs. Hornswoggle. It was the first event produced under the No Way Out name, although it was preceded in 1998 by an event named No Way Out of Texas . The main event was a Hell in a Cell match, a match where the ring and ringside area was surrounded by a 20-foot-high roofed steel cell between WWF Champion Triple H and Cactus Jack. The featured bout on the undercard was a singles match for a championship match at WrestleMania 2000 in which The Big Show competed against The Rock. Survivor Series took place on Thanksgiving Eve, November 23, 1994 at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. It was also the last Survivor Series to take place on the traditional Thanksgiving/Thanksgiving Eve date the show had always occupied since its inception. Two main event matches were held; in the first, Bob Backlund faced Bret Hart for the WWF Championship in a submission match. ECW was a professional wrestling television program for WWE, based on the independent Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion that lasted from 1992 to 2001. The show's name also referred to the ECW brand, in which WWE employees were assigned to work and perform, complementary to WWE's other brands, Raw and SmackDown. It debuted on June 13, 2006 on Sci Fi in the United States and ran for close to four years until it aired its final episode on February 16, 2010 on the rebranded Syfy. It was replaced the following week with WWE NXT.

WWE Metal (Originally WWF Metal) was a professional wrestling television program produced by World Wrestling Entertainment. The show aired syndicated weekly from 1999 until 2002 and replaced WWF Shotgun. WWF Metal showed the same matches as WWF Jakked with a different announce team. Originally produced under the World Wrestling Federation banner, the show was eventually replaced by WWE Afterburn in syndication.
