Dizi7.01972’de renkli TV’ler için hazırlanan ilk serilerden olan Go Nagai’nin Mazinger Z’si, birçok kişi tarafından gerçek anlamda ilk mainstream mecha serisi olarak kabul edilir. Mazinger Z’de kötü niyetli bir bilim adamının dirilttiği Miken Uygarlığı devlerinin insanlığa hakim olmasını engellemeye çalışan Juuzo Kabuto, insanlığın son umududur. Kabuto, Chogokin Z adlı süper dayanıklı bir metalden, foton gücünü kullanan bir reaktörle çalışan Mazinger Z adlı dev bir robot yapmıştır. Fakat bunu tamamlayamadan bir bombalı saldırıda ağır yaralanır. Son nefesinde robotu torunu Kouji Kabuto’ya emanet eder. Artık “insanlığı kurtarabilecek bir Tanrı ya da bu Dünya’yı yok edebilecek bir İblis olmanın onun kararı olacağını” söyler. Kouji Mazinger Z’yi devralır ve onunla sayısız savaşa girişir. On the other side in Euro Britannia, Shin, who made his benefactor commit suicide with the mysterious power of “Geass”, is appointed the leader of the Knights of St. Michael. As Shin steadily advances for the sake of his own ambition, he and his subordinates in the Ashura squad are given orders to deploy. The one that lives in order to fight, and the one that fights in order to live.
