Shin Young-gyu

Film, Japon sömürge döneminde, yaklaşık 400 Korelinin kömür madenlerinde çalıştırmak amacıyla "Battleship Island ("Hashima Island”)” adlı bir savaş gemisi ile zorla götürülmesini ve gemidekilerin özgürlük için mücadele etmesini anlatmaktadır.

1970’lerde, siyasetin kirli bir hal aldığı dönemlerde, Seul’un Güney kesimindeki Gangnam gelişmektedir. Çocukluk arkadaşı olan Jong-dae ve Yong-ki’nin evleri de bu dönemde yıkılır. Parasız kalan gençler, kirli işlere bulaşır ve zamanla yolları ayrılır. Üç yıl sonra Jong-dae, artık dürüst bir adam olarak yaşamaya başlamıştır. Yong-ki ise Seul’un en kirli çetesinin acımasız tetikçisi haline gelmiştir.
