Major Zherekhov — an experienced operative and head of a police division in Murom. He has a wife, a 10‑year‑old daughter, and a secret affair with investigator Ivolgina. In her free time, Ivolgina investigates a case that, in Zherekhov’s opinion, does not exist. She is convinced that five girls who disappeared in different districts of the Vladimir region are victims of a serial killer. She insists that an official case must be opened, but Zherekhov is categorically against it — there are no bodies, no evidence. Yet Ivolgina does not back down and continues to work on what she calls “The Invisible Man Case.”
